#382: the funkadelics - connections & disconnections (1981)
adults in superhero outerspace custumes who say, “and we are conquerors of getting down” or “we’re giving you the gift of funk to pass on through the ages/ we’re floatating funk lords travelling far and near” are always to be admired.
still, it’s nice when the music fades out and soul train’s don cornelius interviews fuzzy, grady and calvin, asking them, “well, fuzzy, you fellas haven been involved in such a long tradition of great music—funky music—can we expect more of the same?”
“i’m looking forward to just continuing the funk,” fuzzy says.
“the music will be even funkier, more danceable, more understanding,” grady says.
“all i can say is,” calvin says, “we’re going to continue in ‘81 the same as we’ve done the funk ever since the beginning, just going to continue and make it stronger and better,” which is probably the best life advice in the world.
